Itenerary

The night before departure, we will meet up and have a nice dinner at a restaurant in Reykjavik, get to know each other and go over the plan for the trip.

Day 1

We pick you up at your hotel at 7am. Course is set towards the south coast, We head out to start exploring either Myrdalsjokull or Eyjafjallajokull depending on weather conditions and conditions on the glaciers. The goal here is to get up on the ice and photograph the icy landscape of a large glacier. After spending time on the glacier we continue eastbound on the South Coast, stopping at Reynisfjara to explore the magnificent black sand beaches and basalt columns along with Dyrholaey and Thridrangar, We will then head for the town of Vik where we plan to have dinner and spend the night. If weather and conditions permit the plan is to go hunt for the Northern Lights after dinner.

Day 2

We start the day early and travel towards Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon to capture sunrise at this magical place along with it´s surrounding area. A boat trip is planed if conditions allow, but at this time of year the lagoon may be completely frozen. We will have lunch at Þorbergsetur museum. After lunch, the course is set for the Blue Ice Cave in Vatnajökull, this is an isolated large cave and our group will be the only people there, giving us a fantastic opportunity for great photography. The difficulty level for this part is medium/hard, approx 1 hour walk on gravel and ice to the cave and 1 hour back. We will have expert guides and all necessary safety equipment. For those that do not feel physically fit for this portion, there will be an alternative photo location during the trip with one of our guides. After that we head toward Vik for our overnight stay. After dinner we will again go hunting for the Northern Lights.

Day 3

Another early start as we head toward Thorsmork stopping at waterfalls like Skogarfoss and Seljalandsfoss on the way. Thorsmork is a truly magnificent place both in winter time as well as in the summer. Among the stops will be Gigjokull glacier, giant icicle ravines, Husadalur and Merkurker. After a long day we head to Reykjavik and drop you off at your hotel.

Remember to bring your camera gear, warm clothes, rain gear and sturdy shoes on all trips!
